49th Anniversary!

Wow! We've been married 49 years! We were home from the Indy/Chicago long weekend and a few days before our African trip, so it was a day of errands, reading through the new information received about the safari, and starting the packing (then unpacking because we read only soft bags and very restricted size). We celebrated by having a delicious dinner out at Orchard Green in downtown Iowa City. I enjoyed a grilled seafood platter and Don had a cowboy ribeye. Finished the meal with a cheesecake and berries. Lovely evening together!

Don's Birthday in Chicago

Don started celebrating his birthday in Indiana with Brent, April, Cade, Kasen and Cam and finished it up in Chicago. We checked into the Chicago Downtown Marriott and had dinner at Joe's Steak and Seafood. Monday we had a lake/river architectual boat trip. Dinner at the Chicago Chop House before heading to the Cubs v Rockies baseball game. CUBS Win with a homerun in the bottom of the 9th. A Mob tour around Chicago started our Tuesday then off to Evanston to get our Yellow Fever vaccines. We headed home instead of staying in Chicago Tuesday night for a second Cubs game as initially planned. As it ended up, the Cubs game was canceled due to the weather.

Birthdays in Indy

Cam turned 8 on August 20 and Don turned 69 on August 22, so we headed to Brownsburg, IN to help Cam celebrate on his Friday birthday after school that day. Saturday morning Kasen and Cam had soccer matches and then Hoopers came over in the afternoon for a pool party and birthday cake. Sunday everyone helped Don celebrate his birthday after church.
