Landon's Field Trip to the Kalona Village

Landon invited me to join him and his class as they had a field trip to the Kalona Village.  I met him on the bus in Kalona and the fun began.  The first stop was the one room school house.  The tour guide explained what school was like long ago and they compared now and then.  The train depot was the next stop.  Even I learned a few new things from the tour guide.  We toured the store, house, buggy shop, post office and the museum.

 After our time was over at the Kalona village we headed to the Kalona Park for lunch and play time.
Even though everyone had been starving since 11:00 few took much time to eat.  Let the play begin.

Fall Family Weekend in Iowa

The family all came home for a fall family weekend. The fun began on Friday evening as Brent, April, Cade and Kasen arrived from Indianapolis and Melissa, Landon and Owen came from Cedar Rapids.  Scott was drumming at a church concert and came Saturday.  Supper, play time, stories and then bedtime for the boys.

The Iowa - Iowa State football game was the main event of Saturday, but first we had a brunch and invited my mom, dad, Judy and Jim.  Then family photos!

Brent, April, Scott and Melissa went to Iowa City to cheer on the Hawkeyes.  We had the privilege of having the boys for the afternoon.  We headed to the park for some outdoor play.

SUNDAY MORNING we went to the Bauer family farm.  The boys got to ride the tractor, combine, scoop, four-wheeler, and sit on the big bulldozer.
