Thanksgiving in Iowa

From the warmth of Kauai to the cold of Iowa for a week of fun with family over Thanksgiving.  The weekend before Thanksgiving Landon and Owen each played basketball and Monday Landon had a 7th grade Prairie game.  Fun times to see these boys play ball.  Wednesday L and O didn't have school so Don picked them up, visited Grandma Iva, and then came to our house.  We took in the Iowa basketball game later that night.

Kauai in November

November 3 - 17

Saturday, November 3 we drove to Denver for a seven hour flight to Lihue, Kauai.  We arrived about 3:30 pm in Kauai and checked in at our favorite Marriott in Lihue for one night.  We enjoyed the pool and supper at Duke's.  Sunday we enjoyed the pool again, had the special noodles at Hamura Saimin, got groceries at Costco, and then headed to Princeville to check in at The Cliff's where we'll be staying the first week.

The road beyond Hanalei is closed which means we can't get to our two favorite beaches, Tunnels and Ke'e.  Monday we spent an afternoon at Anini Beach.  Tuesday we enjoyed time at the resort and the pools/hot tubs there.  Wednesday we found a new beach at Kalihiwai Bay.

The weather prevented us from going up the Napali coast, but it was a fun cruise anyway.

We enjoyed the beach a few days this week, but the cloudy/rainy weather convinced us to depart Thursday evening in order to get to Iowa by the weekend for the boys' basketball games.  One last dinner out at Duke's and off to Iowa for the Thanksgiving week.
