March Madness!

March Madness began for us in Indy with the Big Ten Tournament.  Then to Des Moines for the first rounds of the NCAA games. Great games in Des Moines as Kentucky, Kansas, U Conn played there. The third week we headed to California for the next round in Anaheim.  Oklahoma beat #1 seed Oregon to head to the Final Four in Houston.  From California we flew to Chicago (brrr) for the McDonald's All American game.  Don flew to Houston for the Final Four and I flew home.

DES MOINES
Don went to the open practices on Wednesday (I went shopping) and we stayed overnight for the game Thursday.  We headed home after the games and then drove back on Saturday.

Reflections on City High BB Season

Big Ten BB in Indy

The Big Ten Basketball tournament in Indianapolis is a great combination of ballgames and family.  Wednesday, March 9 Don and I headed to Brownsburg to stay with Brent, April, Cade, Kasen and Cam.  We skipped the Wednesday games and enjoyed playing with our grandsons.  Thursday saw us cheering on our Iowa Hawkeyes to no avail.  Thursday night we attended Cade's second grade school music program.  Friday we (Don, Brent and I) sat through four ballgames.  Since it was my birthday we ate at Fogo's between the afternoon and evening sessions.  YUM!  I skipped the games on Saturday so I could spend the day playing and enjoying the boys.  Friday night was my birthday celebration with the family.  The guys brought Chinese home with them and April made a cake.  The little boys enjoyed helping me blow out the candles.  Saturday Cade played his last basketball game.  Sunday was church and the conference championship game before we headed home.  What a fun-filled five day weekend.

Fun times ahead!  Papa reading with Cam and Nana playing sequence with Cade & Kasen

One last game of UNO before we head home on Sunday evening.

Another Weekend of Sports

We enjoyed a Saturday morning watching Owen play his last basketball game of the season.  I love his hustle.  He swished several baskets!

On Sunday Landon played in an indoor soccer tournament in Iowa City.  Little did we know that he was playing with a broken thumb and played goalie for several of his games.  They went 2 -1 -1 for the weekend and took second in the tourney.

So, back to the broken thumb!  Saturday as Landon was playing in the neighborhood he hurt his thumb.  By Sunday it was swollen and bruised.  After his soccer tourney Melissa took him to urgent care for an x-ray.  It was broken.  Tuesday morning he had an appointment with orth and they put it back in place and put a cast on it.
