Fall Trip to Rocky Mt Nat'l Park

It's our third fall living in Colorado and our third annual fall trip to Rocky Mt Nat'l Park.  After church on Sunday we packed the car and headed to Estes Park which was about 2 1/2 hour drive.   As we got closer to Estes Park we drove the peak to peak road (Hwy 7) so we could enjoy a picnic lunch at Lily Lake while looking at Long's Peak.  We drove on into Estes Park, checked into Crags Historic Lodge and then drove to Rocky Mt Nat'l Park to go to Bear Lake.  On our late evening trip back to the Lodge we saw several elk, deer, and wild turkeys.

Fall in Iowa

Back to Colorado for a day after Labor Day, then to Vegas for two days, and then back to Iowa.  This was the weekend to catch Landon and Owen both playing soccer and Landon running cross country on Tuesday with his 7th grade Prairie team.

Labor Day Weekend in Iowa

We headed back to Iowa for the Labor Day weekend specially to celebrate Melissa's 40th birthday which was August 14 when we were traveling.  Brent, April and boys came on Friday night for the weekend.  A group (Brent, April, Scott, Melissa, & Landon) went to the Iowa v N Illinois football game Saturday while the rest of us (papa, nana, Cade, Kasen, Cam, and Owen) enjoyed the game on the big screen at home.  It was Landon's first game at Kinnick and the Hawkeyes won.

Sunday we hosted a big end-of-the-summer BBQ to celebrate Melissa's birthday and also Cam's 5th birthday which was August 20.  25 people with lots of food, and many hours of fellowship were enjoyed.

Labor Day Monday Brent and family left mid morning and then Don and I flew back to Colorado at 5:00  FUN weekend!
