New York City

May 17 - 23

A USAB Coaching Academy brought us back to New York City!

Wednesday
We checked into The Essex, our favorite Marriott in NYC which is across the street from Central Park on 59th.  We missed our reservation for steak at Peter Luger's so we ate at Wolfgang's which is just as good.  Then off to the Theater to see the musical, Groundhog Day.  It was fun!

Thursday
Don had an early morning meeting and then we had the day to play.  We have never taken the Staten Island Ferry so that was our destination today.  We arrived at South Ferry via the subway and took the free 25 minute ferry to Staten Island.  Cruising by Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty was a highlight and seeing the NYC skyline as we came back.

Back on the NYC side we took the subway to City Hall so we could walk over the Brooklyn Bridge and have pizza "under the bridge."

Seinfeld at the Beacon.  He was fabulous and FUNNY!

Friday, Saturday and Sunday Don was busy with USA Basketball - Friday teaching basketball at a school and the weekend with a Coaching Academy.  I enjoyed walking and exploring Central Park.

An evening out - dinner at one of our favorite Italian restaurants and then to the theater to see Waitress.  It was a fun musical.  Then a walk back through Times Square.

Sunday night we found a new steakhouse - Gallaghers.  Porterhouse for two please!

Monday
One last extra day for fun.  We had tickets to go to the top of the Empire State Building.  It was raining and completely fogged in.  Oh well, we went to the top anyway.

We spent our last evening in NYC at the Yankees baseball game vs. KC Royals.  Yankees won!
An early morning flight (actually made it on the even earlier 6 am flight) and we returned to Colorado Springs.

Time in Boston

May 4 - 11  Boston

Thursday, May 4 we flew from Denver to Boston.  We checked in to our favorite Boston Marriott Long Wharf.  We took the subway to Fenway for a baseball game of the Boston Red Sox vs Baltimore Orioles.  Orioles won 8 - 3.  We had great seats behind the Red Sox dugout.

Fenway Park - Boston Red Sox

USAB Work
We are in Boston due to USA Basketball work for Don - Friday and Monday teaching basketball at a school during their PE time, and Saturday and Sunday putting on a coaching academy.  Friday and Saturday were rainy so I spent time in the hotel.  Sunday the weather improved so I took the hop on hop off bus tour of the city.

Great Food

 Martha's Vineyard
Tuesday we signed up for a day long trip to Martha's Vineyard.  We were picked up at 6:45 am, bused to Falmouth, and ferried over to Martha's Vineyard.  From Edgartown we took a three hour tour around the island.

 Boston Celtics game
Much to Don's delight, the Boston Celtics lost a game over the weekend so they were back in Boston on Wednesday night for the next playoff game vs Washington Wizards.  We changed our return flights to Denver and stayed for the game.

 Freedom Trail
We had time on Thursday before our flight to walk part of the Freedom Trail near our hotel.
