Kauai - The Cliffs @ Princeville

Week one of our Hawaiian vacation.
North shore of Kauia

The Cliffs
Our condo is beautiful. We have one huge bedroom complete with walk out patio, 2 bathrooms, large living/dining room (with big screen tv!), full kitchen, second walk out patio from living room, AND we can see the ocean beyond the cliffs.

Ke'e Beach - Saturday
We packed a lunch and headed to Ke'e Beach which is at the end of the road on the north shore of Kauai. Driving from the cliffs of Princeville down through Hanalei and on to Ke'e is beautiful - many one lane bridges and beautiful ocean views. The snorkeling was good with many colorful fish and amazing coral.

The beach day is not complete without a stop at the Wishing Well for shave ice!

Tunnels Beach - Sunday
The snorkeling was amazing with lots of different fish. We spotted a turtle a few yards from the shore and we watched it for about an hour.

SeaLodge Beach - Monday

Our morning began with breakfast on the patio with nene geese, chickens (Kauai is full of wild chicken) and a cute bird visiting. We saw a rainbow after a brief shower.

Getting to SeaLodge Beach is an adventure but well worth it!

We made it!

The perfect ending to our day - sunset dinner at The Regis hotel overlooking the Hanalei Bay.

Hanalei Bay Beach - Tuesday

We took the easy access beach today by parking at Hanalei Bay Resort and walking down the paved trail to Hanalei Bay Beach.

Snorkeling was not very good at this beach today, but it's still fun to go out.

Wednesday - Hideaways Beach

Another adventure to get to the Hideaway Beach today. It's easier than SeaLodge, but has quite a decline to get from the cliffs where we start down to the beach. Of course that means quite a steep incline to get back out!

Ahhh...the beauty of Princeville. We love this north shore of Kauai!

We always head to the pool and hot tub after the beach.

Thursday - Tunnels Beach

Today is our last full day on the north shore so we went back to Tunnels Beach. We even managed to park on the little lane leading to the beach which is unheard of! Usually we park down the road at the state beach and carry all of our stuff (beach chairs, cooler with lunch & drinks, snorkel gear, noodle and floaties, bag with books, etc) back from that beach to Tunnels. Today was so easy! The water was rough today and the snorkeling not as good as earlier in the week, but we had a turtle sighting while out snorkeling and another turtle camped out in front of our chairs by the shore. I saw a fish I've never seen before and Don saw some eel type fish.

The journey to Tunnels Beach - looking out at the taro fields in the valley, one lane bridges and passing through the village of Hanalei.

This 1834 church in Hanalei still holds services.

Tunnels Beach

No ice today at the Wishing Well, so we tried a different shave ice place. It was equally as refreshing!

No, I don't surf but we returned our rented snorkel equipment here. We did take surfing lessons a few years back and I could NOT get up on the board. Everyone (Don, Brent, April, Scott) else did, but not me!
