Christmas Time in NYC!

December 13-17  Another weekend + extra days in December?  Yes, PLEASE.

Thursday night we stayed at the Westin at the Denver airport.  We enjoyed a free night's stay in this beautiful, upgraded suite.  Friday morning's flight at 7:00 is doable from the Westin.

Friday we arrived in NYC, settled into the JW Marriott The Essex House and then were off to meet up with Hasan for dinner out at a Greek restaurant and then to a late show at The Comedy Club.

A Christmas tree greeted us in the lobby

Our hotel is decked out for Christmas
Saturday Don spent the day at a high school basketball tournament and I relaxed.  When he returned we went to the Boston Square Garden's theater for a Christmas cirque du soleil "Twas the Night Before Christmas.  It was fabulous.

After the show we walked back to our hotel and enjoyed the light show on Sak's Fifth Avenue store and Rockefeller Center at night.

Sunday we attended two church services - the first half at the historic St. Patrick's and then to the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian.

St Patricks

Fifth Ave Presbyterian.
From our hotel we walked to the Lincoln Center where we had lunch nearby and then to the New York Philharmonic Holiday Brass concert.  Festive and fun.

The evening took us back to the Boston Square Garden for a Christmas concert by Mariah Carey.

Monday was a relaxing day to walk NYC.  We hit some Christmas markets (Columbus Circle, Grand Central Station and Union Station), walked by the windows at Sak's Fifth Ave, enjoyed a less crowded Rockefeller Center, and had a late lunch at Grand Central Station before putting our feet up in the hotel for an hour.  Our evening activity was a bus/walk tour of Holiday Lights in the Dyker neighborhood.

We took the subway to Union Station, walked through the huge Christmas market, had slices of pizza before joining our bus tour.

We love NYC and it is especially wonderful in December!
