A USAB Coaching Academy brought us back to New York City!
Wednesday
We checked into The Essex, our favorite Marriott in NYC which is across the street from Central Park on 59th. We missed our reservation for steak at Peter Luger's so we ate at Wolfgang's which is just as good. Then off to the Theater to see the musical, Groundhog Day. It was fun!
Thursday
Don had an early morning meeting and then we had the day to play. We have never taken the Staten Island Ferry so that was our destination today. We arrived at South Ferry via the subway and took the free 25 minute ferry to Staten Island. Cruising by Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty was a highlight and seeing the NYC skyline as we came back.
Back on the NYC side we took the subway to City Hall so we could walk over the Brooklyn Bridge and have pizza "under the bridge."
Seinfeld at the Beacon. He was fabulous and FUNNY!
Friday, Saturday and Sunday Don was busy with USA Basketball - Friday teaching basketball at a school and the weekend with a Coaching Academy. I enjoyed walking and exploring Central Park.
An evening out - dinner at one of our favorite Italian restaurants and then to the theater to see Waitress. It was a fun musical. Then a walk back through Times Square.
Sunday night we found a new steakhouse - Gallaghers. Porterhouse for two please!
Monday
One last extra day for fun. We had tickets to go to the top of the Empire State Building. It was raining and completely fogged in. Oh well, we went to the top anyway.
We spent our last evening in NYC at the Yankees baseball game vs. KC Royals. Yankees won!
An early morning flight (actually made it on the even earlier 6 am flight) and we returned to Colorado Springs.
