New York City in the Spring....Brrrrr

Don was asked to represent USA Basketball at the Jordan Classic all star game in New York.  Several of our USA players would be playing.  We flew to New York on a Tuesday and home on a Saturday - four days of theatre, eating out, sight seeing, and of course basketball.  We packed our winter coats because we had Yankees vs Cubs baseball tickets.  The game was rained out, but we were glad to have our winter coats because we wore them all the time we were in NY!  Instead of the Yankees game on Tuesday night we ate at an italian restaurant and we got tickets for a theatre night - Beautiful, The Carol King Story.  It was wonderful.

Enjoying the food at Amarone's

Wednesday morning we had tickets for the 9/11 memorial.

The museum wasn't open yet.
This will be interesting when it does open in the Spring of 2014

Wednesday afternoon we went to Motown.  We enjoyed the music.

We stayed at the Brooklyn Marriott which turned out to be a great location.  Just across the street was the subway.  The C trains took us "uptown" to the theatres, restaurants, sight seeing, and the Knicks basketball game at Madison Square Garden.

Carnegie Deli - noodle and matzoh ball soup!

Don spent Thursday morning at practice and then we were off on the subway to Peter Luger's Steakhouse!  A porterhouse for two!

"Kinky Boots" was our theatre choice for Thursday night.  It was very fun!

Friday we had reservations at noon at Carmine's.  We love this italian restaurant.  We had angel hair pasta in oil & garlic with shrimp.  YUM

Then we walked through some of Central Park.  Still in our winter coats but it was the best weather day we had in NY.

Off to the Jordan Classic Basketball game for the evening.  Then to NY's #1 pizza place - Grimaldi's where they bake the pizza in 1000 degree coal brick ovens.

It was a full four days and we had a fabulous time!  Thanks, Nike and USA Basketball.
