Fall Retreat to Hawaii! Week 2 - Lihue, Kauai

 November 5 - 10

On Saturday, November 5 we took a short flight on Hawaiian Air from Kona to Lihue, Kauai.  We stayed at the Marriott Beach Club for five nights.

Our room wasn't ready so we enjoyed a pool day (with executive lounge passes) and a trip to Hamura Saimin for noodles.

First stop is for noodles

Poipu Beach on the south shore is one of our favorites so Sunday we headed there and then went back another day.

Fall Retreat to Hawaii! Week 1 - Big Island

 Sunday, October 30 - November 16

THE BIG ISLAND - HAWAII

October 30 - November 5 we spent the week on the big island of Hawaii at King's Land.  We've stayed there before and it's a great location.  This week we were in building 24 on the second floor and realized there was a pool and hot tub between our building and the next so we didn't need to walk over to the main pool.

On our morning walks......

The ancient foot trail was rough going.

Ha ha.

Hapuna State Beach - A beautiful beach on the big island.  It was our favorite this week and we visited it twice.

Waialea Beach.

Drove to Waimea for a steak dinner at Merrimar's

Volcanoes National Park

A two hour drive to the other side of the island (the rainy side) and it rained all day on us.  We had wanted to do the 3 mile hike across the caldera, but the weather kept us from doing that.  We drove down to the coast via the Chain of Craters road.  By the time we got back up that road it was just misting and we enjoyed walking through the Thurston lava tube.

During our Costco shopping we found some poi!  No thanks.

What a great week on the big island.  Now off to Kauai!
