Dallas - Vegas - Puerto Rico

This ten day trip lands us in three places.  First to Dallas for the weekend for a USAB Coaching Academy, then to Las Vegas for a youth clinic and Coaching Academy, and the following weekend in San Juan, Puerto Rico at the invite of FIBA for Don to help with players and give a coaching clinic.

DALLAS
Sorry, no pictures.  Two days for Don in the gym and rainy weather kept me inside.

LAS VEGAS
The USAB Senior Men's Team was practicing in Vegas to prepare for the World Cup in China.  Don enjoyed several days of attending practices.  Then it was time for a player's clinic at a Girls' and Boys' Club and the Coaching Academy.  I enjoyed our stay at the Wynn and spending the day at the pool.  Shade was a necessity as it was over 100 each day!

SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO
Friday evening we took a flight from Vegas to Houston and then to San Juan.  We arrived in San Juan at 5:30 am Saturday!  We are staying in a beautiful, five star hotel:  Condado Vanderbilt.            After a quick nap Don was picked up and headed to the gym to help with the players.  In full disclosure, I slept until 11:30!  I headed out to the pool overlooking the beach.  Beautiful weather!  We ate out with the FIBA group at the Meat Market.  Sunday Don had a break during the middle of the day and he joined me at the pool.  He headed back to give a two hour coaching clinic.  We had the evening to ourselves and enjoyed eating at a restaurant across the street from our hotel.

We were scheduled to fly home on Monday afternoon:  San Juan to Chicago to Colorado Springs.  Monday we were notified by United that weather in Chicago would affect our flights so we decided to stay in San Juan an extra day and return on Tuesday using the same flight pattern.  It was a GREAT extra day!  Don was done working so we spent the day on the beach relaxing.  Little did we know that weather would again affect us on Tuesday.  We ended flying getting to Denver and taking an Uber home Tuesday (actually Wednesday morning as we arrived back in COS at 2:30 am!)

US Open in Indy

USA Basketball's US Open was once again held in Westfield, Indiana so we headed to Brownsburg to stay with Brent, April and and the boys.  Yay!  Cade and Kasen LOVE to go to the Open with Don and they spent 1 1/2 days in the gym.  I enjoyed some special time with Cam playing board games and swimming while the bigs were away.  It was HOT while we were there and we all enjoyed pool time.  After church I got to accompany them to do their school shopping as the boys start school August 1.  We celebrated Cam's birthday early as we won't be with him in August when he turns six.

Cam will be in kindergarten
Kasen will be in 3rd grade
Cade will be in 6th grade and heading to a different building

Cam loved his new Nike shoes.

Seattle

We flew to Seattle from Indy (after our fun 4th of July weekend at Brent's with the whole family) for Don to accept his "Court of Honor" award from the National High School Basketball Coaches Association.  We landed Monday late afternoon, checked into the Washington Athletic Club and walked to the wharf area for dinner at Aqua on Pier 70.

Tuesday we enjoyed the day to ourselves to be tourists:  delicious breakfast and then doughnuts, the Space Needle, the Chilhuly Garden and Glass, riding the Monorail, heading to the Pike Place Market, dinner out with cousin Jeff and Mary at Palisade,

As a 10 year old my family went to Seattle for the opening of the World's Fair.  I was so interested in all the history of the Space Needle.  (It seemed taller when I was 10!  Now it's dwarfed by the taller buildings near by.)
