Family Time in Kauai!

 June 29 - July 9

We started from the Indianapolis, Cedar Rapids, and Des Moines airports then met in Denver to proceed to Lihue, Kauai!  After getting the rental cars, Scott and Melissa headed to the Costco in Lihue, Brent, April and boys stopped for more groceries in Kapaa, while Don and I took Landon and Owen and headed to Princeville to our Airbnb house.

    Hanalei Beach

The Kahlers left to meet up with Amy (a college roommate who happens to be in Kauai on vacation) and her family for a day of kayaking. The rest of us packed up lunch and headed to Tunnels Beach.  But unfortunately we couldn't find parking so we headed to a beach in Hanalei.  It was a fun day on the beach!

Saturday, July 2

    Kalihiwai Beach

Brent received a call in the morning that our Napali Coast Boat tour & Snorkel trip was canceled due to rough ocean waves.  We were unable to find a date to reschedule.  Oh well.  We decided to head to a new beach - Kalihiwai Beach.  And it was superb!  The big wave beach!

Brent, April, Cade, Kasen and Cam had a very early flight back home.  They left the house about 4:15 am.  The rest of us packed up and checked out of the house by 10:00.  We headed to Lihue where Don and I will stay at our favorite Kauai Marriott for a night.  The Kahlers enjoyed using the pool most of the day and then had a 6 pm flight back home.  Don and I enjoyed lobster and swordfish at Duke's that evening.

Saturday, July 9 - Sunday, July 10

Don and I enjoyed a quiet, relaxing day at the Marriott pool before flying home Saturday night and landing in Denver, then Cedar Rapids on Sunday.  What a WONDERFUL family vacation!

Back in Colorado Springs

 June 17-25

U17 Training Camp is happening at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. Don needed to be in Phoenix on Friday and Saturday to observe players at a big tourney and then flew to COS on Saturday night.  I joined him there on Tuesday.  I planned lunches with friends (Nancy, Christine, and Wylene) on my three days in town, ate dinner with Don and the coaches in the evening, and we even got in a few times of being a Colorado tourist.  Thursday night we went to the Flying W Ranch chuckwagon dinner.  In all the time we lived in Colorado it wasn't hosting due to being burned down in 2012 by the Waldo Canyon fire and then because of Covid.  It was a fun evening of a cowboy meal (brisket, baked beans, baked potato, biscuits, applesauce, spice cake) and western music.  Friday after being in the gym we headed to one of our favorite places to hike and hang out, Garden of the Gods.

Kasen Turns 12!

 Kasen turned 12 on June 3 and we went to Brownsburg a week later to celebrate that birthday.  We babysat the boys so Brent and April could have an overnight downtown Indy after the Zoobolition.  The boys went with Don on Saturday to a tourney where he was evaluating players.  They enjoyed shooting in an extra gym.  After Sunday's church we ate out at the Mexican place and then enjoyed an afternoon of games and swimming.

Las Vegas

Friday, June 3 - Wednesday, June 8

A USAB Coaching Academy and then the chance to scout players at a tourney took us to Las Vegas for a few days.  We stayed at the Cosmopolitan with a balcony room viewing the fountains next door.  Friday night USAB hosted a social at Top Golf.  I enjoyed the pool at the hotel while Don worked.  Dinner out at night was a highlight.
