Sir Owen Turns 5!

Wow!  Owen is five!  Funny, precious Owen.  The "knights and castle" theme called all of us to the Kahler's home on Saturday, April 5.  Brent, April and the boys came from Indiana so a sleep-over was planned to maximize the cousins time together.

March Madness in San Antonio

March Madness in Indy!

Two trips to Indianapolis during March!  Hooray for the Big Ten tourney and NCAA regional finals that were hosted there.  We don't really need an excuse to go visit Brent and his family, but when family and basketball intersect it's a bonus.

Don and Brent attended many games together!

It was my first time to their new house since they moved.
LOVE everything about the beautiful house.

Papa and baby Cam are good buddies.

It was the day after my birthday so a special celebration followed supper.

Many hours in the top floor play room.

Cam and Kasen at bathtime.

Cade got to attend one of the Big Ten games with us.

More play time!

Jump, jump, jump

Pizza and movie night while Brent and Don were at a weekend evening game.

Cade!

We love our guest room complete with the murphy bed and
use of a beautiful bathroom.

Happy 8th Birthday Landon

Eight years ago on January 26, 2008 we became grandparents when Landon Scott Kahler was born.  Eight years of fun watching this precious grandson.  The threat of a Sunday blizzard moved this football themed party to Saturday.  Pizza for lunch (Landon's request and it has always been pizza for his birthday party so why change at 8), yummy cupcakes and football chocolates.

Football Cards and Fun

Football cards, games, and making bracelets highlighted my Monday with Landon and Owen.  They didn't have school on MLK Day so I went to CR Sunday evening and stayed overnight to rescue them from Kids Inc on Monday.  It was a stay-in-jammies day and we had FUN.

All of the football cards came out of the binders and we sorted them by teams.  Nana learned a lot about players, the teams, and identifying the team logo.  Such knowledge Landon has about all of this!  They traded a few and put them back into the binders.

The afternoon was spent with games.  Using super hero cards we played "War" and I am so impressed that 4 year old Owen knows his numbers and their values so well.  He does not like to lose any game.  We had a marathon of playing Sequence for Kids.  After about 1 1/2 hours of playing Landon deemed that he and I were tied and Owen got the Official Blocker Award.

FUN DAY with two of my favorite little boys!

Ringing in the New Year

Don planned a fun "date" overnight for us in Des Moines.  New Year's Eve included a delicious steak dinner at 801 Chophouse in downtown DM, a concert at the Civic Center and overnight at the Renaissance Hotel.  After a late brunch at the hotel we went to Steve and Holly's house to watch the Iowa FB team play LSU in the Outback Bowl.
